A department is a scientific and educational unit that connects higher education teachers, scientific associates and higher education associates from one or multiple similar scientific disciplines and areas of expertise covered by the Faculty's syllabus for the purpose of coordinating their scientific and educational work.
Departments are established by the Senate. The department is led by the head of department, who is elected by other department members. In addition to coordinating the scientific and educational work of its members, departments also have other important duties according to the Faculty's statute and its general legal acts. E.g., they compile lists of candidates for Senate members and participate in defining the topics of students' graduation theses.
Department of Economics
The scientific areas covered by the department are macroeconomics, microeconomics, business decision-making models, economic growth and development, the economics of economic growth, scientific research methodology, the philosophy and development of economic thought, quantitative and qualitative methods, modern organisational paradigms, globalisation, and international economics. The department's mission is to contribute to the development of science and the profession in the field of economic sciences. The department's associates aim to present the latest findings in the areas covered by the department, to apply these findings, and to pass them on to students at the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycle of the Bologna study programmes.
Moreover, the associates carry out scientific research and scholarly activities in the fields of economic theory, general management, project planning and management, human resource management, and quality management. The department's achievements include its members publishing their work in international publications, which is evident from their bibliographic records.
The department will continue to bring together experts and higher education teachers who are actively monitoring and studying events in the narrow and wider economic environment, and who are doing their best to involve students in the research work.
Department of Business, Entrepreneurship and Organisation
The Department of Business, Entrepreneurship and Organisation covers the field of management, marketing management, business law, human resources development, modern organisational theories, accounting, career management, the EU business environment, legal and economic aspects of EU institutions, and the prospects of technological and ecological development. The department's mission is to contribute to the development of science and the profession in the field of business, entrepreneurship and organisation. The department's associates aim to present the latest findings in the areas covered by the department, to apply these findings, and to pass them on to students at the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycle of the Bologna study programmes.
Members of the department try to include as many new findings in the learning process as possible in order to enrich the process and enable students to view and assess global economic currents critically. They do so by keeping up with and taking into account the latest findings in world economy.
Department of Environmental Management
The department covers the scientific fields of environmental protection and sustainable development; the environment and health; environmental impact assessment; environmental monitoring; environmental epidemiology; waste management; landscaping; spatial planning; sustainability and environmental management; biodiversity and nature protection; natural karst resources; integrated water resources management; the food chain and health; sustainable design; sustainable development; environmental remediation and restoration; environmental pollution monitoring; environmental economics and accounting; financial aspects of environmental management; environmental and circular economy; environmental chemistry; environmental physics and meteorology; environmental information systems; renewable energy sources; environmental and social aspects of sustainable development; sustainable use of natural resources; environmental law; environmental innovations and environmental ethics. The department's mission is to contribute to the development of science and the profession in the field of environmental management. The department's associates aim to present the latest findings in the areas covered by the department, to apply these findings, and to pass them on to students at the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycle of the Bologna study programmes.
The associates are also carrying out scientific research and scholarly activities in the following areas: strategic management; crisis management; decision-making models; modelling decision-making processes; information and communication systems; applied mathematics; the basics of research; environmental statistics, etc. The department's achievements include its members publishing their work in international publications, which is evident from their bibliographic records.
The department will continue to bring together experts and higher education teachers who are actively monitoring and studying events in the narrow and wider economic environment, and who are doing their best to involve students in the research work.
